[EAGAN, MN, February 20, 2024] —The 2024 Senior Women’s National Championship is on the docket this week, as the top curlers over the age of 50 will head to the Circle City Curling Club in Anderson, Indiana, from February 21st through the 25th.

Curling fans should expect a week of fiercely contested games as eight teams will compete to represent the United States at the World Senior Women’s Championship in Oestersund, Sweden in late April. Margie Smith, a three-time World Senior Women’s Medalist, will return to the nationals looking to defend her title for an unprecedented sixth year in a row. Her quest for a ninth senior championship will not come easy, however, as many squads, including Tracy Lawless and her runner-up team from 2023, will seek a change of fortune this year.

Teams in the event will play a seven game round robin before the top four advance to the semifinals. The playoffs will take place all day Sunday, with the two victorious semifinal teams competing for gold and the opportunity to advance to the Worlds in two months' time.

“We’re excited to bring the best senior curlers in the country to Indiana for five days of fantastic competition,” remarked USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell. “It’s great to see the immense growth of our sport in recent years and the Circle City Curling Club exemplifies that. I know they will put on a top-tier championship event.”

Just outside of Indianapolis, the Circle City Curling Club is one of the many freshly-minted dedicated rinks that continue to pop up around the United States. Established in 2007, the club spent its early years on arena ice at different locations across the Indy metro area before moving to a dedicated three-sheet facility in 2022. Despite having existed for only a handful of years, the Circle City Curling Club offers the perfect location for the Senior Women’s Nationals as curling fever continues to grow in Indiana.

Games will be streamed all week on the Circle City Curling Club YouTube channel, and can be found here. For more information about the championships as a whole, you can visit this link.
