The 2023 U.S. Mixed Doubles Curling National Championship will be returning to the USA Curling competition calendar in February 2023 with exact dates and location to be announced.

The Championship will welcome 16 teams to compete for the 2023 U.S. Mixed Doubles Curling National Championship title and earn a berth to represent the United States at the 2023 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship on Apr. 22-29, 2023, in Gangneung, South Korea.

The Mixed Doubles National Championship will divide the 16 teams into two pools of eight, where every team will complete a round robin. At the conclusion of the round robin, six teams will advance to a single-elimination playoff round.

To qualify for the 2023 U.S. Mixed Doubles National Championship, 16 teams can earn berths through the following ways:

  • One (1) team will earn a berth as the previous season’s World Championship representative.

  • One (1) team will earn a berth as the 2022 Team USA Olympic representative.

  • Four (4) teams will earn berths based on combined points of both players in the Men’s/Women’s World Team Ranking System.

    • Points will be added together to generate the total points of the Mixed Doubles combination.

    • This date cutoff will be the second-to-last Tuesday in December of the current season.

    • For the 2023 Championship, the cutoff is Dec. 20, 2022.

  • Four (4) teams will earn berths from the WCF Mixed Doubles Team Rankings as of the second Tuesday in January of the current season.

    • For the 2023 Championship, the cutoff is Jan. 10, 2023.

  • Six (6) teams will earn berths as the highest finishing, not already qualified teams in the three identified qualifying events.

    • The top two, not already qualified teams at each qualifying event will earn berths.

Qualifying Events

1. Colorado Curling Cup, Rock Creek Curling, Lafayette, CO, Oct. 13-16, 2022

2. Southern Mixed Doubles, Charlotte Curling Association, Charlotte, NC, Dec. 29-31, 2022

3. MadTown Mixed Doubles, Madison Curling Club, McFarland, WI, Jan. 6-8, 2023

  • All qualifying event draws will be seeded based on the WCF Mixed Doubles Team Rankings—organizers will collaborate with USA Curling.

  • If any qualifying event is canceled, berths will be awarded to the next highest-ranked team from the WCF World Mixed Doubles Team Rankings, as of the second Tuesday in January of the current curling season.

If a team qualifies through more than one of these criteria or if a team declines their berth in the National Championship, that berth will be awarded to the next highest-ranked team from the YTD WCF Mixed Doubles Team Ranking System, as of the second Tuesday in January of the current curling season.

Upon qualification, teams will be contacted directly with registration information for the 2023 U.S. Mixed Doubles National Championship.
