UW-STEVENS POINT WINS 2022 USA CURLING COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHP

On March 11-13, 2022, the Fargo-Moorhead Curling Club in Fargo, North Dakota, hosted the 2022 USA Curling College Championship.
After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, schools across the country were excited to return to the national stage to compete to bring the national title home to their university.
To qualify for the tournament, schools had to earn enough points throughout the season by competing in a Tour of point-earning bonspiels.
The 2022 Championship welcomed 16 schools that were seeded into four groups.
The four groups played a round-robin within each group and then the top eight schools from the round-robin portion of the event advanced to a single elimination championship bracket.
Entering the 2022 USA Curling College Championship as the top team in the country due to the highest points this season, the Curling Association of UWSP (CAUWSP) has been to every national championship possible since the club was founded in 2013.
After going through the round robin portion of the tournament undefeated with a 3-0 record, the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point (Kayla Guenther, Jayda Harris, Meghan Taylor, Sawyer Cadwell, Jackson Armstrong) advanced to playoffs, defeating Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the first round.
Stevens Point then advanced through the semifinals by defeating University of Wisconsin Superior, who went on to win the bronze medal game over Harvard.
In the gold medal game, Stevens Point beat University of Pennsylvania in assertive fashion, winning 13-2 in six ends.
With an undefeated tournament, UW-Stevens Point was crowned the 2022 USA Curling College Champion. This victory marks the third Championship title for UWSP, the only school to win multiple Championships.
