TEAM SHUSTER RETURNS
USA Curling is pleased to announce that Team Shuster will be returning as one of the three men’s teams in the High Performance Program this upcoming season.
The team of John Shuster (skip), Chris Plys (vice-skip), Matt Hamilton (second), John Landsteiner (lead) and Sean Beighton (coach) will remain unchanged heading into next season.
After winning the gold medal at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, Team Shuster joined forces with Chris Plys. The addition of Plys has proven to be successful, as the team has won back-to-back national titles.
“After the abrupt end of the season and all of the uncertainty in many aspects of life, one thing that has been made clear is that I still love the game and miss battling with these guys who have become just as great of friends as they are teammates,” Plys said.
Even with the unfortunate cancellation of the 2020 Men’s World Curling Championship that was set to be held in Scotland at the end of March, Team Shuster remains motivated and more focused than ever.
“With the added pressure next season to secure the spot for the United States at the next Olympics, we want to have the control in our own hands,” Plys said. “I look forward to trying to make it three in a row and getting one step closer to the team’s goal of Beijing in 2022.”
