Team Christensen entered the final day of women’s round robin play in need of one win to clinch their spot in the playoffs of the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

The Team took care of business in the first game of the day, starting strong with a three-point lead in the first end against Team Strouse.

"We played a great first end and were able to get three,” said Cory Christensen. “Obviously, in a ten end game, anything can happen. We knew we needed to keep the pedal down and we for sure did because Strouse played great."

Team Strouse battled back, forcing 10 ends of play, but Team Christensen was victorious in the end, improving the Team’s record to 6-3.

"I'm just so proud of the girls. We came out and knew we needed to put our rocks in good spots,” said Christensen. “We knew Strouse would bring their 'A' game for sure, and they absolutely did. They played great. I'm just really proud of the team for sticking with it and getting the first win of the day."

Team Christensen now sits alone in second place and two wins ahead of the rest of the field. With only one game of round robin play remaining, this morning’s win solidified Team Christensen’s spot in the best-of-three game final against Team Peterson.

"This was huge and goal number for sure,” said Christensen. “I think the goal tonight is just to come out and keep playing well, getting rocks in good spots and continue building like we have all week to get ready for the finals."

Team Christensen will face Team Rhyme on Thursday evening in the final game of the women’s round robin before advancing to the best-of-three final against Team Peterson.
