PLAYOFFS SET AT 2021 U.S. WOMEN’S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
In what started as a field of seven, three teams remain in contention for the National title at the conclusion of round robin play.
Achieving a perfect 6-0 record through the round robin, Team Sinclair finishes atop the standings, clinching the top playoff seed and advancing to the Championship final on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
Sinclair’s 6-2 victory over Team Traxler in the final game of the round robin set them one game ahead of the rest of the field, earning a bye into the final and a qualification to the 2022 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
Team Christensen’s 5-1 record through the round robin has secured the second playoff seed, advancing the Christensen skipped team to the semifinal with the advantage of hammer to start the game.
On Sunday at 9:00 AM, Team Christensen will face Team Bear (3-3) in the semifinal. Team Bear’s qualification for playoffs went down to the wire in the must-win final game of the round robin against Team McMakin.
"I think we took a lot of deep breaths that game and really honed in on our tolerances,” said Taylor Drees, second for Team Bear.
Leading by one without hammer in the tenth end, Team Bear stole a point to secure their victory and advancement to playoffs.
"It's our first season together and really great to see how much progress we've made despite all of the challenges that we've had this season,” said Annmarie Dubberstein, third for Team Bear. “We're going to take those feelings and bring them into our next few games."
