[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, June 5, 2024] Voting for the four open positions for the 2024 Athletes’ Advisory Council (AAC) has closed. USA Curling is happy to share that Oyuna Uranchimeg, Patrick McDonald, Delaney Strouse, and Bill Stopera will be joining the AAC.

The terms of their positions will be two years.

Two positions ran unopposed, while two positions were voted on. The vote remained open for two weeks and eligible voters were invited, in accordance with the 10-Year Rule, to cast votes.

“I am thrilled about the interest shown by this year's candidates,” said USA Curling AAC Chair, Luc Violette. “I, as well as the rest of the members of the AAC, look forward to working with the new members and I am certain the backgrounds, experiences, and dedication of these four athletes will serve the mission and vision of the AAC and USA Curling well.”

The Athletes' Advisory Council and the representation on the USA Curling Board of Directors are enshrined in the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act, designed to give athletes of USOPC sports a voice. Participation in the AAC is a right and a privilege that is reserved for the 10-year athletes of USA Curling.

“As a former AAC member, I know how vital this group is to the efforts of USA Curling,” noted Dean Gemmell, CEO of USA Curling. “By providing the athlete voice, they help us make better decisions. We are enthusiastic about the recent additions to the committee, and we look forward to working with all the members of the AAC.”
