[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, June 20th, 2024] The historic St. Paul Curling Club has agreed to host the 2025 Five-And-Under National Championship from May 8-11, 2025.

This USA Curling event, open to participants who have played the sport for less than five years and are aged 21 or older, gathers teams from across the country to compete for a national title. Teams secure spots in the Five-and-Under Nationals through qualifying bonspiels held nationwide. Additionally, the host club is granted one berth each year to complete the 24-team field.

“We’re thrilled to partner with St. Paul and provide Five-and-Under curlers an opportunity to compete in this storied venue,” noted USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell. “There is something special about having our newest participants play for a national title in a club with so much great history.”

Conveners of Five-and-Under bonspiels that want to be one of the 23 qualifying events for Nationals can apply to be included here. Applications will be accepted by July 19, 2024, and the naming of Qualifier Bonspiels will happen no later than August 30, 2024. Bonspiels are chosen based on factors that include number of entries, event history, and geographic distribution. USA Curling wants to ensure that the schedule includes bonspiels with the highest number of entries and offers opportunities for curlers in all parts of the country.

“Last year, there were 567 total entries in the Five-and-Under qualifier bonspiels. The growth indicates that our newest curlers embrace competition and are eager to vie for a national title,” Gemmell added.

In 2024, Team Mellin (Matt Mellin, Joe Daly, Derek Farrell, Jackson Purdy, Coach Korey Dropkin/Duluth Curling Club) captured gold at the Nationals in Chaska, after winning the silver medal in 2023.
