USA WOMEN LOOK TO EARN BERTH IN WORLD JUNIOR CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, December 13, 2024]— Team Giroux, the 2024 USA Curling Junior Women’s Nationals champions are in Lojha, Finland, and ready to represent Team USA at the World Women’s Junior B Championship.

A total of 21 countries are in the women’s event, all aiming to make the medal stand and earn their place in the the 2025 World Junior Curling Championships slated for April 12-21 at the 2026 Olympics venue in Cortina, Italy.

Every year at the ten-team World Junior Curling Championships, the countries finishing eight, ninth, and tenth are required to compete at the World Bs to earn their berth in the next world championship. In 2024, the Team USA men finished fourth, securing a place in the 2025 World Juniors.

Team Giroux, skipped by Allie Giroux with Tessa Thurlow at third, Ella Fleming at second, Brooke Giroux at lead, and Savannah Koch as the alternate, will open the event against China on Sunday, December 15th. Teams are grouped into three pools and, in addition to China, other teams in the Team USA pool are Croatia, Spain, Hungary, Romania, and Slovenia. The event wraps up on December 19th with the semi-finals and medal games.

MIchael Moore, coach of Team Giroux, remarked, “The team has worked hard since capturing the 2024 national title to improve all facets of their game. They are extremely focused, and ready to earn that berth in the 2025 Worlds.”
