QUALIFICATION PROCEDURES ANNOUNCED: 2022 MEN’S, WOMEN’S AND MIXED DOUBLES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

In consultation with the Athletes’ Advisory Council, USA Curling is pleased to announce the qualification procedures for the 2022 Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles National Championships.

The 2022 Men’s and Women’s national Championships will welcome 10 teams in each field through the following ways:

  • The six (6) men’s and six (6) women’s teams from the 2021 US. Olympic Team Trials will qualify. Teams must have 3 of 4 team members or 3 of 5 team members to accept spot. Deadline to accept will be December 1st, 2021.

  • One (1) men’s and one (1) women’s team not already qualified will qualify as the top ranked team from the Curl Mesabi Classic event on December 17th – 19th, 2021. o Registration deadline for this event is December 10th, 2021.

  • Two (2) men’s and two (2) women’s teams not already qualified will qualify as the top two teams in the WCF World Team Rankings system as of December 21st, 2021.

  • One (1) men’s and one (1) women’s team will qualify as the top ranked team at the 2021 US Junior National Championships on August 9-14, 2021.

    • If the 2022 U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Championships conflicts with the World Junior B Curling Championships or team is no longer together, the next highest finishing team will earn the berth.

    • The team must have 3 of 4 players or 3 of 5 players intact from the 2021 U.S. Junior National Championships.

    • If any team declines a berth or is deemed ineligible, the spot will be filled via the next highest finishing team at the Curl Mesabi Classic.

The Mixed Doubles National Championship will be open to 32 teams. Should more than 32 teams register, teams will qualify the following ways:

  • Team must be ranked within the top 24 teams of the Mixed Doubles World Team Ranking System as of January 31st, 2022.

  • Top eight (8) ranked teams from the Men’s /Women’s World Team Ranking System as of January 31st, 2022.

    • Each player from the mixed doubles team will add their individual point totals to get their team point total.

The winners of the 2022 Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles National Championships will advance to represent the United States at the respective World Curling Championships.
