A-EVENT QUALIFICATION MATCHUPS SET FOR THURSDAY

On the second day of the 2022 U.S. Mixed Doubles National Championship, it was moving day for several teams as they competed in the ‘C’ division of the bracket, while a handful will enter playoff qualification games tomorrow.

In the four sessions that took place on Wednesday, two went into extra ends as teams battled to stay alive for the 8-team playoff qualification at the end of the week.

Former teammates in the men’s field, Rich Ruohonen and Andrew Stopera, along with current teammates in the women’s field, Jamie Sinclair and Monica Walker, will face off in the A-event qualification game (Sinclair/Ruohonen vs. Walker/Stopera) on Thursday at 4:00pm.

The hometown sibling duo of Matt and Becca Hamilton faced Taylor Anderson and Hunter Clawson in Wednesday evening’s matchup to advance to the A-event qualification game.

It was Team Hamilton/Hamilton that came out with 7-4 victory and will advance to tomorrow’s A-event qualification game against 2018 National Champions, Sarah Anderson and Korey Dropkin.

“Today has been filled with great shot making and the level of play continues to increase as teams get comfortable on the ice,” said National Team Director Phill Drobnick. “It’s exciting and motivating to see so many up-and-coming talented players on National Championship caliber ice.”

Tomorrow, the action will return to Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, Wisconsin, for four more draws at 9am, 12:30pm, 4pm, and 7:30pm.
