PLAYOFF FIELD SET FOR JR. MEN, TIEBREAKER TO DETERMINE FINAL JR. WOMEN’S PLAYOFF TEAM
Four teams on the junior men’s side and three teams on the junior women’s side have qualified for playoffs at the 2021 U.S. Junior Curling National Championships in Chaska, Minn.
On the men’s side, the following four teams will advance to the semifinals at 8:00pm (CST) on Friday, August 13th.
1. Team Casper: Daniel Casper, Ethan Sampson, Marius Kleinas, Samuel Strouse
2. Team Tuma: Kevin Tuma, Samuel Clasen, Sidney Harris, Stuart Strack
3. Team Oldenburg: Aidan Oldenburg, Nick Soto, Jake Thurston, Connor Kauffman
4. Team Wendling: Wesley Wendling, John Wilkerson, Charlie Thompson, Christopher Kirsch
Based on rankings, Team Casper will play Team Wendling, and Team Tuma will play Team Oldenburg.
On the women’s side, two teams have advanced out of Pool A:
1. Team Strouse: Delaney Strouse, Sydney Mullaney, Leah Yavarow, Susan Dudt
2. Team McDonald: Andie McDonald, Miranda Scheel, Abigail Page, Bella Hagenbuch
With three teams tied at 4-1 in Women’s Pool B, Team Gourianova (Katherine Gourianova, Sara Olson, Elizabeth Janiak, Anne O’Hara) will advance directly to the semifinal based on last shot draw, while teams Jones (Samantha Jones, Abigail Marquardt, Ellie Vorpahl, Anna Armstrong) and Viau (Claire Viau, Megan McPhee, Ella Wndling, Ellery Bazley) will face off in a tiebreaker at 4:00pm (CST) on Friday, August 13th.
Team Gourianova will play Team McDonald in the semifinal, and Team Strouse will play the winner of Viau vs. Jones in the other women’s semifinal at 8:00pm (CST) on Friday, August 13th.
The losers of the semifinal games will compete in a bronze medal game on Saturday, August 14th at 10:00am (CST).
The winners of the semifinal matchups will advance to the 2021 U.S. Junior Curling National Championships final to be played on Saturday, August 14th at 10:00am (CST).
