2021 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS LIVE STREAM
USA Curling is excited to announce that families, friends, and fans will be able to tune into the 2021 U.S. Mixed Doubles, Men’s, and Women’s Curling National Championships via USA Curling’s Youtube channel and website.
The live-streamed coverage of the events will begin on the championship weekend of the 2021 Mixed Doubles National Championship (May 22-23) and continue through the duration of the Men’s and Women’s National Championships (May 25-30).
“It was important for us to ensure fans had a way to watch this season,” said USA Curling CEO Jeff Plush. “Many in our community have missed curling due to the pandemic.”
With this on-site coverage, USA Curling looks forward to bringing curling into homes across the country, a top priority since Plush first stepped into his role as CEO in February 2020.
“We are in a very exciting and advantageous time of the Olympic and Paralympic quadrennial where curling piques the interest of many, making it vitally important to bring in a reliable and experienced broadcast team to deliver as much coverage as possible,” added Plush.
The reliable and experienced broadcast team is 12th End Sports Network (TESN). Founded by Joe Calabrese and Brian Anderson in 2010, this will be the tenth Men’s and Women’s National Championship TESN has covered, in addition to a couple Mixed Double National Championships and Olympic Trials.
The experience and familiarity of TESN will be beneficial, as the bubbled environment of the 2021 U.S. National Championships will present a unique set of challenges.
“Due to limited bubble access, we’re getting creative with how to best capture game coverage that would typically be done by on-ice camera operators,” said Joe Calabrese, TESN CEO. “Commentary will also be different this year because we’ll rely on folks in the bubble to help the provide color commentary on feature games.”
Despite the obstacles, USA Curling and TESN are committed to working together to produce a product that will allow fans to follow the action of men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles teams competing for berths to the Olympic Trials from the comfort of their living rooms.
With athletes, coaches, staff, and volunteers playing a role in this year’s production, coverage is sure to offer a story unlike ever before.
In addition to the video coverage, USA Curling will be updating its site with live scoring throughout the duration of the Mixed Doubles, Men’s, and Women’s National Championships.
USA Curling is sponsored by Toyota, Goldline, Twin Cities Orthopedics, Training HAUS, Brakebush, ISS (Ice, Sports & Solar), and Sitrin, and is partnered with IHG, Rock Solid Productions Inc., 12th End Sports Network, Laurie Artiss Ltd. – The Pin People, and United Airlines.
